- Dennis, I agree with you to a certain extent (definitely with respect to
- Class 1/2 vis-a-vis CAS). I too have a 400 and for faxing it is in a
- different class to the other "toys". Nevertheless, I have doubts about the
- 500. The hardware is apparently well tested but the software seems to need
- catching up. There is no true backwards CAS compatibility at present
- although "real soon now" the drivers will be available.
-
- Still, for the 500 to be really competitive (other than price) with say the
- Gammalink Cpi/100 it is going to have to be a fair/good bit better than the
- 400 which is not that terribly resistant to line noise. The data side does
- not concern me in least although this seems to be very important to a lot
- of people on the CIS pure data forum. If that is their concern, they might
- as well have bought a USR Courier.
-
-
- We will see how this all turns out. In my business, I cannot play around
- with .0 fax solutions and will continue to follow feedback on the CIS pure
- data forum. However, the posts so far definitely appear to be from 'casual'
- fax users who do not do a ton of international (intercontinental faxing)
- faxing to areas which may have sub-optimal phone lines.
